Hearts and Hands volunteers come from all walks of life. Some have retired from their careers and find the work of a volunteer both rewarding and fulfilling. Others are busy with their families but recognize the needs of the elderly in our community and want to assist in some way, too. We even have teenagers that give of their time to provide some of the services used by the care receivers with Hearts and Hands. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the training of new volunteers. We want to give each volunteer the confidence to be able to perform various tasks for a care receiver and also understand the parameters of the work of the agency. A training session generally lasts about 3 hours. We review information in a training manual and offer every opportunity for questions.
If you're thinking of volunteering, we're thrilled! We need caring individuals to help with the work of the agency. YOU decide when you are available and what types of services you are willing to perform. Maybe you're willing to provide just one medical trip for a care receiver each month - that's great! We are grateful for any time you can provide.
